
A train carrying crude oil derailed Friday morning in Ukraine's central Cherkassy region, destroying at least 25 private houses, authorities said.
The accident happened at around 6:35 a.m. local time (0335 GMT) near Gorodysche town, causing extensive flames and smoke and forcing evacuation of dozens of people, the State Service for Emergencies said in a statement.
A total of 46 fire engines with 230 firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze at 10:42 a.m.(0742 GMT), the statement said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
