Typhoon Halong weakened to an extratropical depression on Monday in the Sea of Japan and was moving toward the far eastern coast of Russia after leaving at least 10 people dead and two others missing in Japan.
The season's 11th tropical storm made landfall in western Japan on Sunday, bringing heavy rain and strong winds while sweeping across the country, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
Halong, which means "descending dragon" in Vietnamese, also injured more than 90 people, according to public broadcaster NHK.
Airlines canceled more than 330 flights on Sunday.
