At least 20 people are feared dead in Nigeria following a battle between factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Sango, police said. The fighting broke out nearly three weeks after a similar incident in another part of the country, The (Oshodi, Lagos) Guardian reported Wednesday. The union clash in Sango erupted over control of Sango Motor Parks. Police said after they stopped the fighting at least 10 bodies were found and scores of others had been seriously injured, including the employee of a construction company that was building a bridge near the site. A public relations officer for state police said it was too early to tell how many people died. Fighting between factions of the union is related to an overdue election, The Guardian reported. The tenure of current union leaders in the state has expired but they have refused to set a date for elections. A judge has ruled that they must do so.
