The family of an American soldier who died in Kuwait has filed an official complaint claiming that the man’s body was returned to the United States without a heart, a local daily reported yesterday. The family plans to hire lawyers “who will go to the fullest extent” to learn why the man’s heart was removed, along with other parts of his body including his brain”, Al-Rai reported, citing “informed sources”. Meanwhile, a senior official at the Interior Ministry’s Criminal Evidence General Department confirmed, when contacted to verify the news, that “the US Embassy in Kuwait sent a request to inquire about the cause of the soldier’s death, as well as the procedures taken afterwards with regards to taking samples from his body”. The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, indicated that their work at the forensic department requires “taking small samples” from victims “as a necessary step to determine the cause of death”.
