A wildfire in Northern California forced the evacuation of a Lake County town after burning about 3,000 acres, officials said. The fire started after 4 p.m. Sunday and quickly burned down at least one building and thousands of acres of heavy brush and timber, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Residents of Spring Valley were told to evacuate around 7 p.m. Sunday, said Julie Hutchinson, a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection battalion chief. Parts of Highways 20 and 53 were blocked off as the fire burned on both sides of Highway 20, Hutchinson said. The fire has burned 3,000 acres and is 25 percent contained, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, the agency said.
