Zakat Fund said on Tuesday that it donated QR 6 million to the victims of drought in the Somali Republic, the sum will be divided upon Qatari charities operating in Somalia. Head of the fund Mr. Jassim Al-Kubaisi said that the total donations to the people in the Somali Republic had reached QR 2 million so far, expecting the number to increase in the coming days. Al-Kubaisi said that the fund is "open" to receiving donations. The head of the fund stressed that the donations will be provided to Qatari charities operating in the Somali Republic, that will in turn use that money to reinforce their relief work. Al-Kubaisi said that 95% of the income of the fund is used to help the poor inside the country, however he said that there are no regulations that prevent helping the poor outside the State of Qatar. The State of Qatar established an aerial bridge with the Somali Republic to carry out relief work.
