David Rudisha of Kenya set a world record Thursday in winning the Olympic gold medal in the 800-meter run. Rudisha ran the distance in 1 minute, 40.91 seconds, shaving .10 of a second off the former world mark. Nijel Amos of Botswana won the silver medal and the bronze went to Timothy Kitum of Kenya. Americans Duane Solomon and Nick Symmonds finished fourth and fifth in the fastest 800-meter race ever run.
