The defending champions, Qatar handball team began their campaign at the 4th Asian Beach Handball Championship with a 2-0 victory over Thailand on Wednesday. The event is held in Hong Kong with participation of six teams including Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Vietnam, Thailand and Hong Kong. The winners and the runners-up of the championship will qualify to the World Beach Handball Championship to be held in Morocco. On Thursday, the Qatari team will play a crucial match against Bahrain where the winners will edge closer to the title as Bahrain defeated Hong Kong 2-0 on Wednesday. The Qatari squad includes Muhsen Al-Yafaei, Muhab Ali Mahfouz, Ali Ahmad Mohammad, Mu’atasem Abdulwahed, Abdulrazaq Ahmad Murad, Hanid Tenban, Ahmad Mohammad Abdulhaq, Mahmoud Uthman, Hassan Awad, Zainadin Bo Menjel, Shadi Hazem, Fahad Aoun, Mahmoud Ahmad Hassaballa and Mohammad Ahmad Hassan.
