Indian boxer facing action over Asian Games medal snub

Indian woman boxer Sarita Devi has made an "unconditional" apology for her Asian Games medal ceremony protest against judging when she refused her bronze, the international governing body said Friday.
The International Amateur Boxing Association (IABA) and Incheon Asian Games organisers were infuriated by the protest and IABA had threatened disciplinary action against the 32-year-old.
An IABA statement said Devi had "apologised for her improper behaviour at the award ceremony" on Wednesday in a letter which the Indian delegation had given to IABA's president Wu Ching-Kuo.
"Mrs Devi expressed 'an unconditional apology' for her 'emotional outburst' at the ceremony, writing that 'I regret and apologize. Such an incident will never reoccur in the future'," said the statement.
Boxing's world body opened a case against Devi after she rejected her bronze medal and condemned judges over a controversial semi-final loss to South Korea's Park Ji-Na.
There were several stormy protests over a number of judging decisions. There were scuffles and expletive-laden tirades after some fights.
The Incheon organising committee complained about Devi's behaviour but also said it had written to the IABA calling on the federation to "ensure fair play in competition."
