Civil Defense teams struggled Saturday to put out a huge fire that erupted overnight on the outskirts of the northern town of Dora in Akkar. Two firefighter trucks were dispatched to the scene and Civil Defense personnel used water containers provided by nearby municipalities in a bid to contain the fire, which could engulf the entire valley if it spreads. The head of the Dora Municipality, Khaled Sahmarani, voiced fears Saturday that firefighters would not be able to put out the fire, which has damaged around 15,000 olive and almond trees so far. Speaking to the National News Agency, Sahmarani said that the firefighter trucks were unable to get close to the fire due to a lack of asphalted roads. From / Daily Star
