The UN nuclear watchdog adopted a resolution last night urging North Korea to halt nuclear development, KBS radio reported on Saturday. In the resolution, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called on North Korea to thoroughly implement its nonproliferation obligations and abide by the September 19th joint declaration that was drawn up by the members of the six-party nuclear talks in 2005. It also called on the North to abide by UN Security Council resolutions. The IAEA explained the resolution stresses its hope that North Korea's nuclear issues would be resolved diplomatically to achieve Pyongyang's complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization.
