A technical study on hazard maps in Algeria using satellite imagery to identify areas prone to flooding, was launched recently, said Thursday in Algiers the Minister of Water Resources, Hocine Necib. On the sidelines of a technical day devoted to the presentation of this study, Necib said that the study which first results will be available in a year,’’ will make a list of improvements to make in order of priority to mitigate the flooding phenomenon.’’ ’’This study will allow us to advocate for more effective arrangements to reduce the effects of floods,’’ he said, adding that 150 million dinars was allocated for its execution.
