Cisse spoke to Islamic scholars about Wonga

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse has revealed he consulted Islamic scholars about wearing a jersey sponsored by payday loan lender Wonga. The Senegalese footballer decided to wear the shirt, despite initially claiming that promoting a company that deals with interest clashed with his Islamic beliefs. "I have had some useful discussions with my club, my family and Islamic teachers in the last few weeks. After a huge amount of thought and reflection I have made the decision to follow my teammates and wear the kit," Cisse told the club's official website.
