"The issue of Russia's embargo against the Albanian products will be solved within December," Albanian Minister of Agriculture, Edmond Panariti declared on Friday, according to Albanian Daily News.
The embargo imposed by Russia few days ago on the Albanian fruits and vegetables made the Ministry of Agriculture send experts to Moscow to talk and solve this issue.
The embargo entered in force on December 8, 2014.
"I don't think that it has had any effect so fast, especially given that the volume of our exports to Russia isn't that large as to affect on Albanian products. This issue will be solved before year end and we hope that exports towards the Russian market will be reopened soon," Panariti declared.
He also said that there had been an increasing trend towards the Russian market given that Albanian products are fresh and have attracted the interest of Russian importers.
"Our exports map is wider than the export towards Russia. We export towards 18 countries. Our orientation is clear, we want to have as our key partner the European Union," said the minister.
The minister accentuated that the Phytosanitary Certificate, (the document that is used to attest that consignments meet phytosanitary import requirements), cause of the embargo, was not forged in Albania, but in a neighborly country.
