
Transportation Minister Galal el Saed received Japanese Ambassador here Takehiro Kagawa to probe means of promoting joint cooperation in the various transportation projects.
The meeting was attended by the head of Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels.
It took up support offered by the Japanese side to establish the first stage of the fourth line of the underground Metro and activating the Japanese loan to implement this stage.
They discussed also the possibility of preparing feasibility studies of the second stage of the fourth line by Japan.
The two sides probed efforts exerted to perform maintenance to el Salam Bridge on the Suez Canal which Japan participated in its construction.
The Japanese side said that it is ready to carry out a feasibility study to develop the transportation system between Alexandria and Borj el Arab.
El Saed underlined the importance of the underground Metro for its vital role in easing traffic congestion in Cairo streets, adding that the Metro network will transport about nine million passengers daily after finalizing it.
