The US dollar was stuck in the upper 77 yen range Wednesday in Tokyo, with the market showing little reaction to the closely watched presidential election of the main opposition Liberal Democratic Party. At 5:00 p.m., the dollar fetched 77.69-71 yen compared with 77. 75-85 yen in New York and 77.76-77 yen in Tokyo at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday. It moved between 77.69 yen and 77.82 yen during the day, changing hands most frequently at 77.74 yen. The euro was quoted at 1.2875-2877 US dollars and 100.03-07 yen against 1.2891-2901 U.S. dollars and 100.30-40 yen in New York and 1.2900-2901 US dollars and 100.31-35 yen in Tokyo late Tuesday afternoon.
