Dollar trades at upper ¥98 level in early Tokyo deals

The US dollar traded at the upper 98 yen level early Thursday morning in Tokyo, up slightly from its level in late overnight trading in New York. At 9 a.m., the dollar was quoted at 98.99-99.00 yen compared with 98.70-80 yen in New York and 98.37-39 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The euro fetched 1.3519-3521 dollars and 133.83-85 yen against 1.3529-3539 dollars and 133.60-70 yen in New York and 1.3521-3522 dollars and 133.01-05 yen in Tokyo late Wednesday afternoon.
