Gold prices slipped on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange Tuesday in late trading with the dollar index lower. The dollar index fell 0.26 0.1 percent on the International Exchange to 81.36. Gold shed $5.90 to $1,669.70 per troy ounce. Silver lost 17 cents to closed at $30.96 an ounce. The euro rose to $1.2564 from Monday's $1.2499. Against the yen, the dollar fell to 78.54 yen from 78.75 yen. The dollar was mixed in Asia and in Europe. The British pound rose to $1.582 from $1.5819. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.9883 Canadian from 0.9882 Canadian. The Australian dollar dropped to $1.0364 from $1.0377. The U.S. dollar rose to 1.2529 Singapore dollars from 1.2528 Singapore dollars. The dollar rose to 1,135.40 South Korean won from 1,135.10 won.
