Gold slid slightly day on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, as the dollar index rose and equities markets dropped modestly. Gold slipped for the first time in six trading sessions, losing $1.20 to reach $1,730.60 per troy ounce. Silver dropped 10 cents to reach $33.52 per troy ounce. In after-hours trading, the euro rose to $1.2765 from $1.2759. The U.S. dollar fell to 78.20 yen from 78.28 yen. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.9773 Canadian from 0.9776. The British pound rose to $1.5994 from $1.5989.
