Gold prices snapped two days of gains Friday, losing $17.40 to close at $1,635.80 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Silver declined $1.01 to settle at $30.99 an ounce. The euro fell to $1.3392 from $1.3434 Thursday. Against the yen, the dollar rose to 76.88 yen from Thursday's 76.67 yen. The British pound was $1.551 Friday, down from $1.5438 Thursday. The U.S. dollar was 7.7819 Hong Kong dollars from 7.7815 Hong Kong dollars Thursday.
