Gold prices moved lower in late trading Wednesday on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, dropping $4.40 to hit $1,608.30 per troy ounce. Silver closed 17 cents lower at $27.29 an ounce, off 0.62 percent. The euro rose to $1.215 from Tuesday's $1.2061. Against the yen, the dollar fell to 78.14 yen from 78.19 yen. On the International Exchange, the dollar index, a prorated measure of the dollar compared with six other major currencies, fell 0.49 percent to 83.61
