The price of gold was eroded further Monday in New York, falling for the seventh session out of the past eight. Gold gave up $1.70 or 0.1 percent and settled at $1,667.60 per troy ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Silver lost 8 cents or 0.26 percent, settling at $31.03 per ounce. Against the dollar, the euro rose to $1.3378 from Friday's $1.3363. The dollar was higher at 89.50 yen from 89.31 yen.
