
Hong Kong stocks closed down 0.05 percent on Monday. The benchmark Hang Seng Index moved down 11.83 points to close at 23,684.45 points, after trading between a day high of 23,829.97 points and a day low of 23,673.53 points. Turnover shrank to 57.56 billion HK dollars (7.43 billion U.S. dollars) from last Friday's 64.51 billion HK dollars. The H-Share Index moved down 61.53 points, or 0.54 percent, to end at 11,387.21 points. Banking giant HSBC ended down 0.12 percent at 86.5 HK dollars. China Mobile, China's dominant mobile carrier ended up 0.75 percent at 81.05 HK dollars. For Mainland lenders listed in Hong Kong, ICBC, China's largest bank by market value, edged down 0.54 percent to close at 5.52 HK dollars; CCB, the country's second largest lender by market capitalization, ended down 0.48 percent at 6.24 HK dollars; BOC, one of the "big four", ended down 0.27 percent at 3.72 HK dollars. For local property developers, Sun Hung Kai, HK's largest property developer by market value, ended down 0.3 percent at 99. 05 HK dollars; Cheung Kong properties, owned by billionaire Li Ka- shing, edged flat at 122.5 HK dollars. PetroChina, the country's largest oil and gas producer ended down 1.06 percent at 9.32 HK dollars. Sinopec, China's top refiner, ended down 2.57 percent at 6.83 HK dollars. China Life, one of the world's largest life insurers by market value, ended down 0.2 percent at 24.95 HK dollars (1 U.S. dollar equals 7.75 HK dollar).
