
Indian stocks closed lower Wednesday with the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index Sensex slumping by 255.69 points or 1.22 percent to close at 20,635.13 points, down from the previous close of 20,890.82 points. The wider NIFTY index also closed down by 80.45 points at 6,122. 90 points. The Indian market is following the other Asian markets, where shares declined in their early trade. The Wall Street also had impact on the Mumbai stock exchanges, as U.S. stocks also declined Tuesday after the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 failed to hold above milestone levels.
