Tokyo stocks fell Wednesday with the key Nikkei stock index down 0.40 percent. The benchmark Nikkei 225 Average lost 34.78 points from Tuesday to 8,738.90, snapping a three-day winning streak. The broader Topix index contracted 1.56 points, or 0.21 percent lower to 753. 44. The sectors leading the decline included the metal products sector, the real estate and the securities sectors. The sea transport, the mining and the machinery sectors were among the winners. The turnover was about 975 billion yen (about 12.71 billion U. S. dollars).
