
Hyundai Motor Co. and its smaller affiliate Kia Motors Corp. held onto their share of the European Union (EU) market in August compared to the year before, official data showed Wednesday.
According to the data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), the market share for South Korea's largest carmaker Hyundai stood at 3.7 percent during the month, with Kia's standing at 3.1 percent for a combined 6.8 percent share. Data showed that 669,395 cars were sold in the EU for the entire month, a 2.1 percent gain from the year before.
