Spain's Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell by 0.1 percent in March on a year-on-year basis according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statists (INE). The INE also reported that on a month-to-month basis prices increased by 0.2 percent from February to March. The INE attributed this figure to lower prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks, leisure and culture and transport. The INE reported that food and non-alcoholic drinks annual inflation rate stood at 0.5 percent in March, a figure 0.6 percent lower than a year ago. "Fresh fish, vegetables, fruit and oils" saw their prices decrease in March 2014 when compared with a year ago, the INE said, while adding that prices of poultry meat increased in March 2014 as opposed to the fall registered in March 2013. Prices of leisure and culture fell by 2.3 percent in March in comparison with the same month in 2013 and prices of transport decreased by 1.3 percent as opposed to the 1.8 percent fall registered in February.
