Stocks were mixed in New York Wednesday with technology firms making some headway, while the rest of the pack remained flat. Shares of Facebook rose 4 percent, although they are still down on the week. Stock values also rose 1 percent at Cisco Systems Inc. and 2.4 percent at Netflix Inc. By close of trading on Wall Street, the Dow Jones industrial average gave up 7.36 points to 13,164.78, off 0.06 percent. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite index added 13.95 points to 3,030.93, up 0.46 percent. The Standard and Poor's 500 gained 1.60 points to 1,405.53, up 0.11 percent. On the New York Stock Exchange, 1,907 stocks advanced and 1,119 declined on a volume of 2.5 billion shares traded. The benchmark 10-year treasury fell 22/32 to yield 1.819 percent. Against the euro, the dollar was $1.2286 from $1.2322 Tuesday. Against the yen, the dollar was 78.96 from 78.73 yen. In Tokyo, the Nikkei closed at 8,925.04, off 4.84 points, or 0.05 percent. In London, the FTSE 100 index closed at 5,833.04, off 31.74 points or 0.54 percent.
