
Tokyo shares ended the morning session on Monday sharply lower with its benchmark Nikkei index plunging over 3 percent on the yen's fast advance and concerns over world economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average sharply dropped 623.34 points, or 3.21 percent, down from Friday to 18,812.49, a roughly five-month, two-week intraday low.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 60.73 points, or 3.86 percent, to 1, 512.28
