
Tokyo stocks ended lower Tuesday, the last day of fiscal 2014, after a volatile session as investors took profits ahead of the release of key economic data due later in the week.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 204.41 points, or 1.05 percent, from Monday at 19,206.99. In March, it rose 2.2 percent for a third straight month of gain, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 14.66 points, or 0.94 percent, lower at 1,543.11.
Major decliners included land transport, warehousing and real estate issues.
