Turkey put new 5 Turkish Lira (TL) banknotes into circulation on Monday. Turkish Central Bank (TCB) Edirne branch said confused with 50 TL banknotes due to color similarity, the color of the new 5 TL banknotes were changed to purple and put into circulation. Signs on the 200, 50 and 5 TL banknotes were also changed on the banknotes put into circulation in the second series of the E-9 Emission Group, compared to the first series of the E-9 Emission Group put into circulation on January 1, 2009. Signatures of TCB Governor Erdem Basci and his Deputy Mehmet Yorukoglu will appear on 200 and 5 TL banknotes while the signatures of Basci and Deputy President Turalay Kenc will be on 50 TL banknotes. Second series banknotes will be in circulation with the first series.
