Exchange rate of the US dollar stood unchanged at KD 0.285, and the euro also stood unchanged at KD 0.371, said the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) on Monday. The exchange rate of the pound sterling came to KD 0.434, the Japanese yen kept to its long-held threshold of KD 0.003, and the Swiss franc went down to KD 0.298. Major currencies suffered much fluctuation over the last week due to release of US economic data, while the US greenback was stable with support of positive readings in main economic indices in the world's biggest economy. The quantitative easing program implemented by the US Federal Reserve is also having an effect on the market at a time of uncertainty of the economic recovery in the US. In Europe, increase in inflammatory pressures coincided with increase in unemployment rates because of the sovereign debt crisis, and markets are apprehensive and waiting for the press conference of President of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi, especially awaiting his decision as to whether to maintain the monetary stimulus policy.
