
US stocks closed higher on Tuesday, lifted by a sharp rally in energy stocks, while the technology sector rebounded after a post-election sell-off.
The Dow Jones industrial average closed up 54.37 points, or 0.29%, at 18,923.06, with Verizon the top advancer and Home Depot the greatest laggard.
The S&P 500 closed up 16.19 points, or 0.75%, at 2,180.39, with energy leading 10 sectors higher and real estate the only decliner, falling about two-thirds of a percent. The Nasdaq composite closed up 57.23 points, or 1.1%, at 5,275.62.
