Stocks closed mixed in New York Monday after Japan announced its second-quarter gross domestic product, which was lower than expected. The Dow Jones industrial average lost 38.52 points or 0.29 percent to 13,169.43. The Nasdaq Composite added 1.66 points or 0.05 percent to 3,022.52. The Standard and Poor's 500 dropped 1.76 points or 0.13 percent to 1,404.11. n the New York Stock Exchange, 1,129 stocks advanced and 1,885 declined on a volume of 2.3 billion shares traded. The 10-year U.S. treasury note yielded 1.668, with prices off 2/32. Against the euro, the dollar was $1.2332 from $1.229 Friday. Against the yen, the dollar was 78.27 from 78.27 yen. In Tokyo, the Nikkei closed at 8,885.15, off 6.29 points, or 0.07 percent. In London, the FTSE 100 index lost 0.26 percent, 15.23, to 5,831.88.
