U.S. stocks closed mixed Monday, as the S&P 500 hit a new all-time high. The dollar was lower against the pound, but higher versus the euro and the yen. Light sweet crude oil for June delivery gained 55 cents to $96.16 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures rose $3.80 to $1,468.00 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 5.07, or 0.03 percent, to 14,968.89. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 3.08, or 0.19 percent, to 1,617.50. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index gained 14.34, or 0.42 percent, to 3,392.97.
