The President of Albania Bujar Nishani recalled with gratitude "generous Kuwaiti support" to development in his country and particularly support to the reconstruction efforts in the capital, Tirana. Speaking while hosting the Kuwaiti Ambassador Najib Abdulrahman Al-Bader at the presidential headquarters Wednesday night, the president said he is pleased with the strong relations and historical bonds between the two countries and two people, and values the "loyal friendship" of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah throughout the years. Nishani urged Kuwaiti investors to consider the wealth of opportunities in his country, to help boost trade exchange and cooperation between the two friendly nations. The Ambassador Al-Bader for his part told KUNA he had conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir and Their Highnesses the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to President Nishani and their congratulations upon his taking over the presidency, and expressed wishes of more progress and development across Albania. The diplomat pointed out he had discussed several issues with his host, and sensed mutual interest in expanding cooperation and coordination in all fields, whether political, economic, or investment-related. The State of Kuwait opened an embassy in Albania in 2011, which was its first resident embassy for the country in the Balkan region. The state also signed a number of bilateral agreements related to the economy, to encouraging, exchanging, and protecting investment, and to avoiding double taxation.
