The Sharjah roadshow, hosted in association with Air Arabia, included workshops and presentations by SCTDA officials, and representatives of Air Arabia and the hospitality sector on Sharjah’s various tourist attractions, cultural offerings and leisure options. SCTDA chairman Mohamed Ali Al Noman said that GCC roadshows are a great way to connect with the fast growing regional tourism market. “The GCC market is very important to us. After all, it is our biggest, after Europe. More than 25,000 tourists from Kuwait, among other GCC tourists, visited the emirate last year,” said Al Noman, as he urged the emirate’s tourism sector to tap the vast GCC tourism market. He said that the Gulf tourism market has grown in extraordinary numbers in recent years with a huge chunk being claimed by the UAE and Sharjah during the summer and Eid vacations. Pointing out to the fact that Air Arabia now offers 120 flight connections a week from various GCC cities to Sharjah, the SCTDA chairman said this is already playing a crucial role in encouraging more and more Arab and other families from across the region to choose Sharjah and the UAE for a quick getaway. He said Arab families and other visitors from around the world found themselves truly at home and welcome in the secure and family- friendly atmosphere of the emirate. The Sharjah Summer Promotions, beginning on May 31, with various indoor events and activities, are a major attraction during the summer, Al Noman said. “Such events and festivals make Sharjah one of the most exciting tourist destinations in the world,” he said.
