The 21st Al-Ayam Cultural Fair will kick-start on December 25, and run until January 3, 2015, with the participation of over 150 Arab and foreign publishing houses.
The ten-day cultural book festivald, organised by Al-Ayam Publishing at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Conventions Centre, will include a string of cultural events, and programmes.
Exhibitors will display the latest publications in all fields of knowledge.
Director of the 21st Al-Ayam Cultural Fair Ghassan Al-Momani said the event would enrich the cultural movement in Bahrain and the surrounding regions, adding that the great number of publishers and visitors proved that paper books maintained their status despite the growing importance of e-books.
Head of Al-Ayam Publishing’s Books and Fairs department Hassan Ali said that the organising committee had prepared a number of programmes and cultural events that would appeal to visitors and foster reading among them, including children, for whom a special pavilion was allocated.
He added that students from schools and universities would visit the Fair, and visitors from Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Region would be invited.
