Recently, 'Nrityanjali' proudly presented Utsav, an evening of Odissi dance, which marked the initiation of four young talents, Priyangshi Bose, Ananya Kantor, Rhea Chandwani and Aaheli Mukherjee in the field of performing arts as they staged their debut recital at the Le Grand Hall, Al Falaj. All the four young artistes have been under the tutelage of Shubarna Bose, a prominent Odissi dance teacher in Muscat. Papri Ghosh and Kushal Ghosh were the guests of honour. The evening unfolded with Mangalacharan, an invocatory piece, followed by Battu, a pure dance item with intricate footwork followed by Vasanta Pallavi, a lyrical ornamental piece of dance. The highlight of the evening was Dashavatara, an abhinaya, where the dancers skilfully depicted the 10 different incarnations of deity Vishnu, with their explicit facial expressions and sculpturesque poses. All the four artistes displayed the nuances of Odissi dance to perfection as they enthralled the audience with their soft and lyrical movements despite their young age. Times Of Oman
