Al Azhar condemned Thursday the terror attacks earlier in the day in Al Arish and Sheikh Zuweid cities of North Sinai that left a number of army servicemen and civilians dead and injured.
In a press release, the world's highest Sunni seat said such terror crimes will not undermine the determination of Egypt to eradicate extremist terrorist groups.
Earlier, army spokesman Mohamed Samir said a number of attacks staged synchronously by terrorists against security checkpoints in the two cities had left five soldiers and 15 terrorists killed.
Medical sources later revealed the death of four civilians in the attacks.
