The Executive Council of the Arab League's Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) 97th session kicked off here on Monday headed by the Council's President Dr. Abdullah Al-Mutawa and ALECSO Director Dr. Mohammad bin Ashor. The opening session was attended by representatives from ALECSO members countries and the Representative of the Secretary General of the Arab League Mohammad Khair Allah. Bin Ashor said, in his opening speech that this is an important session due to being hosted prior to the 21st ALECSO summit scheduled to kick off on December 29th and 30th. Bin Ashor also expressed admiration at Arab leaders' constant support to ALECSO. The Director also congratulated Palestine on being recognized by the UN as a non-observer state, including the registration of a heritage site under its name in the ALECSO list. ALECSO's three-day session is also expected to tackle several issues concerning a report on improving the education program in the Arab world.
