
Al-Ashraf Syndicate affirmed its full support for Al-Azhar in its efforts to confront extremist ideology.
In statements to MENA Sunday, Head of Al-Ashraf Syndicate Mahmoud el-Sherif said that Al-Azhar will always remain the first religious body which defends Islam and Muslims.
Al-Ashraf Syndicate has only one spokesman, who represents its opinion in the various causes, he added.
He, meanwhile, said that Al-Ashraf Syndicate maintains coordination with Al-Azhar, under Grand Imam Dr Ahmed el-Tayyeb.
Al-Ashraf are the decedents of Prophet Muhammad and his immediate family in Egypt.
