The Ministry of Awqaf Ministry and Islamic Affairs announced Monday a ban on fundraising at mosques across the country.
An administrative circular, issued by the Ministry's Undersecretary Islamic Affairs Dr. Adel Al-Falah, was directed to general managers of mosques in all six governorates, as well as mosques' imams and preachers to urgently stop working by the administrative circular No. 1 of 2014 regarding the fundraising campaign for the Syrian people, the ministry said in a statement.
The new circular has also abolished administrative circular No. 8 of 2014 relevant to fundraising activities during the holy month of Ramadan. The Ministry said the move is meant to preserve work pace and order at the mosques.
