
In addition to compositions by Ochoa, the evening will include works by Vivaldi, Bach, Tedesco, Boccherini and Barrios among others.
The quartet will be joined by Cesar Mora, a young classical guitarist from Venezuela.
Born in 1989 in Caracas, Mora studied guitar with José Gamboa, before joining the Conservatory of Music Juan Manuel Olivares. His additional studies took place at the Institute of Musical Studies (IUDEM) now known as the Experimental National University of Arts (UNEARTE). Mora participated in numerous master classes conducted by renowned classical guitarists; he also participated in several festivals and has many concerts to his name. He has won first place in two competitions: VI International Guitar Festival and World Academy Soloists (2011) and the First National Guitar Competition Alirio Díaz (2011).
Mora will perform Path of History, a well-known composition by Luis Ochoa (1959-2014).
Ochoa won 11 national and international awards including: 1st Prize at the X International Composition Competition for Guitar "Michele Pittaluga" (Alessandria, Italy, 2012). Apart from performing extensively in Venezuela, he was repeatedly invited to perform internationally, giving concerts predominantly across Latin America, the United States and Europe. His compositions and arrangements include works for solo guitar acts and ensembles, choir, chamber orchestras and symphonic bands. His compositions and arrangements have been interpreted in important national and international ensembles.
Apart from teaching at the Central University of Venezuela and the Conservatory of Music in Maracay, Ochoa was also a lecturer at a number of music institutions in Vienna, Colombia and Czech Republic.
Founded in December 2012, the Awtar Quartet consists of Egyptian musicians: Yasser Ghoneim on first violin, Khaled Saleh on second violin, Essam Abdel-Hamid on viola and Mohamed Abdel-Fattah on cello. The quartet performs a variety of music genres, from Arabic to easy listening compositions, to Western classical music gems for the formation.
