
Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed al Tayyeb will participate on Monday in a two-day meeting that gathers a number of eastern and western intellectuals to discuss dialogue of civilizations in the Italian city of Florence.
In a press release on Sunday, Azhar said the meeting will tackle three topics: "East and West: Way to Mutual Understanding", "Coexistence in Light of Globalization" and East and West's Message to the Modern World."
Tayyeb, who also chairs the Muslim Council of Elders, will give the main speech in the meeting.
The meeting aims to enhance culture of peace and acceptance of the other between eastern and western cultures.
Meetings that gather eastern and western intellectuals are also expected to be held later in Cairo and Abu Dhabi where the Muslim Council of Elders general secretariat headquarters is located.
