Better management of copyright and related rights for allows funding cultural projects more directly for the benefit of artists, Minister of Culture Minister Khalida Toumi said Thursday in Algiers during a meeting with CEOs of foreign offices of copyright who undergo training in Algeria. Copyrights organizations should better manage the redistribution of collected fees of which a part returns to the State, Toumi stressed, adding that State "must finance culture" to "defend artists" in the context of globalization. Also, the minister recalled the efforts spent by the National Office of Copyright and Neighbouring Rights (ONDA) thanks to the "tax on private copying ", of which a percentage will allow the ministry of culture "to finance a major film project."
