A ceremony marking the opening of 'Days of Cyril and Methodius' was held at the building of the Association of Writers of Serbia (UKS) in Belgrade. UKS President Radomir Andric said on the occasion that the Slavic countries of Bulgaria and Russia mark Saints Cyril and Methodius Day as a state holiday, and that many families in Serbia celebrate this day as their patron's day. The program also included poets Andrej Bazilevski (Russia), Hristo Petreski (Macedonia), Zorica Arsic Mandaric (Serbia), Krasin Himirski (Bulgaria), Dusica Ilin (Macedonia), Becir Vukovic (Montenegro), Nikolay Sopov (Bulgaria) and others. The event will continue with laying of wreaths at the monument to Saints Cyril and Methodius and a ceremony at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Belgrade. On May 25, a full-day program will be staged in Krusevac, central Serbia, where a round table dedicated to the presence of Saints Cyril and Methodius in today's society will be organized.(ANSAmed)
