Durres town-hall organised on Friday evening the cultural event "Durres, 3010 years of civilization." This activity is part of an initiative taken 10 years ago by the city's Archaeological department of the town and Durresi Association which organized a series of events under the motto "Durres, 3000 years of civilization - pride and responsibility." During this event held at Liria square, the "Dyrrah 3010" award went to businessman Ymer Lushakaj, film director and translator Gjergj Vlashi, doctor Mikel Muka and bank consultant Kostandin Heba. Durres is the most antique and second largest city of Albania on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, about 33 km west of the capital Tirana. Archeological proof indicates that Albanian ancestors started to live on this land around 1 millennium BC. Founded in 627 BC in the ancient region of Illyria by Greek colonists from Corinth and Corcyra under the name Epidamnos, this city has been continuously inhabited for 2640 years.
