Cyprus is welcoming hundreds of young and upcoming musicians from EU member states and the Arab world, in a true Euro-Mediterranean celebration of music, until the 30th of September. A series of concerts and music workshops are held in the coastal city of Limassol and the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, Mrs Androulla Vassiliou, will address the opening ceremony on Friday 28 September. ''From classical (Western and Arabic) music to rock, ethnic, jazz, hiphop and reggae, artists will present something for everyone's musical taste during this Euro-Mediterranean celebration of music'' says the Cypriot presidency of the EU. In parallel with the concerts, a symposium and workshops will also be held. ''What makes this event special - says Nenad Bogdanovic, one of the main organisers of the ?uro-Mediterranean Youth Music Expo - is the fact that through a holistic platform, artists will have the chance to perform abroad and gain intercultural knowledge''. Behind the scenes, the Expo will also host over 100 cultural managers, who will work together over the four days to devise innovative strategies that facilitate the development of young people through music in the Euro-Med region.
