Lucy Davies has been appointed Executive Director at the Royal Court theatre and will take up the post in April alongside incoming Artistic Director Vicky Featherstone. Currently Executive Producer at National Theatre Wales, which she launched alongside Artistic Director John McGrath in 2009, Davies joins the Royal Court with a wealth of experience. Beginning her career as an Assistant Director at Kneehigh Theatre, her previous positions include Head of Studio at the National Theatre and Literary Manager at the Donmar Warehouse. Anthony Burton, Chairman of the Board at the acclaimed new writing venue, said: "I am delighted that Lucy Davies will be joining Vicky Featherstone in April next year to take the Royal Court into a new and exciting era. Lucy stood out among exceptionally talented and experienced applicants for this vital appointment. Her innovative work and success as Executive Producer at the National Theatre Wales and the Donmar Warehouse makes her the perfect choice." Davies described herself as “thrilled” to be taking up the post, adding, “Dominic [Cooke] and Kate [Horton] are gifting us a Royal Court in incredible shape – it's a privilege to be tasked with its next era, alongside such a visionary partner in Vicky, and such an outstanding team. The past four years at National Theatre Wales have been the most memorable, inspirational adventure. It's fantastic to be bringing all of that experience to Sloane Square." Cooke and Horton announced earlier this year they would be leaving the venue following a hugely successful seven years at the helm. Cooke sited his intention to concentrate on freelance work as his reason for resigning, while Horton will take up the post of Deputy Executive Director at the National Theatre.
